THE Northern Ireland senior women conclude their 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign on Wednesday with a game against the Faroe Islands at Mourneview Park, Lurgan, kick-off: 7.30pm.

National Women’s Coach Alfie Wylie said: “Wednesday’s game will be our final game in what has been on the pitch, a disappointing campaign, but off the pitch great foundations have been put in place in terms of sports science, fitness and coaching.  Another big plus has been the emergence of exciting young players like Aimee Mackin, Laura Rafferty, Amy McGivern, Hannah Doherty, Jackie Burns and Sarah Connolly.”

Alfie added: “On the pitch it has not been for a lack of effort from the girls and I ask them to relax tomorrow night and focus on delivering a performance that will give us three points to finish the campaign on a high.  To date we have used 35 players in our various squads in this campaign and I thank them all for their commitment to Northern Ireland women’s football.

“Let us all pull together tomorrow night and put on a great performance to do everyone proud at whatever level of girls and women’s football they are involved in.”

Northern Ireland squad: Emma Higgins; Tiarna McKenna; Ashley Hutton; Julie Nelson; Alex Hurst; Lindsay Corry; Demi Vance; Lisa Armour; Nadene Caldwell; Clare Timoney; Lynda Shepherd; Laura Rafferty; Danielle McDowell; Aimee Mackin; Sarah Connolly; Simone Magill; Marissa Callaghan; Alex Ogle; Rachel Furness.

Entry to Wednesday night’s game is free – so come along and cheer on Alfie Wylie and his team in their final game in the qualifying campaign.
